What Is Remedial Massage?
Remedial massage is a form of manual therapy that assesses and treats muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue with the aim of addressing pain, tension, or restricted movement. It involves a range of techniques tailored to the individual’s needs, and may include deep tissue work, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and gentle stretching or muscle energy techniques.
Treatment is focused on identifying areas of dysfunction or imbalance and working to restore normal muscle tone and movement. It’s commonly used by people experiencing muscular aches, stiffness, stress-related tension, or recovering from physical strain.
Remedial massage may assist with:
Muscle tightness and generalised tension
Postural strain from work or daily habits
Recovery from physical activity
Improving joint mobility and circulation
Managing the physical effects of stress
Every session is personalised. Depending on your needs, a remedial massage can feel firm and focused or calming and restorative.
Health fund rebates are available if your cover includes remedial massage.
